This alternative is done in 2 days and 1 night.
Day 1 Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Santa Teresa
We will pick you up from your hotel or meeting point in Cusco between 7:30 and 7: 45 am, and then we will go to Santa Teresa in approximately 6 hours, already in the town of Ollantaytambo we will give a brief stop of 15 minutes to use the hygienic services or to buy some snacks for the way, we will pass by a winding ascent towards the passage of the open Malaga located to an altitude of 4316 m where it will be able to observe a beautiful landscape of the Andean high zone with snowy tips, soon we will descend towards the zone forest happening through towns that belong to Cusco until arriving at Santa Teresa.
Santa Teresa – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes
After passing Santa Teresa and a brief stop in the village. 2:00 p.m. We will arrive at Hidroeléctrica. Where our walk begins which is approximately 2:30 at a normal pace. From Hidroeléctrica, you will also have the option to take a train (25 minutes ride) if you don’t want to walk, but this has an extra cost of US$ 35 (95% of the people are walking), once you get to Aguas Calientes you will go directly to the lodging we will provide, then you will have the free time if you want you can visit the hot springs (entrance fee S/15 not included). Then you will have dinner, already at night, the tour guide will give you the instructions about the visit for the next day.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Hydroelectric – Cusco
The next day we will get up around 4:30 to 5:00 am, to board the bus, which will take us to the park archeological of Machu Picchu.
There is an alternative of a 40-minute walk to get to Machu Picchu (but watch out it’s uphill), you also have the option of taking a bus to get to the archaeological center of Machu Picchu (15 minutes cost US$ 12), the first bus leaves at 5:30 a.m. When you arrive at the door of the Machupicchu park, you will meet your guide and join the group to start the tour, we will be walking receiving information from our local guide for about an hour, around the main parts of the citadel, places of great importance like the temple of the sun, the house of the Inca, the area of the water mirrors, the temple of the condor, the Plaza Mayor, the Intiwatana and among others, then you will have free time to take pictures and explore Machu Picchu on your own for about an hour.
End of the tour to Machu Picchu by bus, return to Cusco.
Then we will have to walk back to Hidroeléctrica (3 hours) where we will take our bus (departure 15:00 hrs.) to return again to Cusco (arrival approx. 21:30 hrs.)

According to the new regulation of Sustainable Use and Tourist Visit for the conservation of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu 2019, the entrance ticket to Machu Picchu is valid only for one entrance to the park (this means: The passenger enters, walks, leaves and cannot re-enter), generally, all people stay between 4 and 5 hours in Machu Picchu, if you want to stay longer, you must buy another ticket (US$ 50.00 extra), the park is open until 17:30 h.
